Having grown up in a family of veterans, he knew early on he wanted to serve. He enlisted in the Navy fresh out of high school, advanced to the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class, started his degree program, and after four years of service was Honorably Discharged. He spent three years in the civilian world completing his degree, working as an ESL teacher, a substitute teacher, and a full time student. In 2008, he entered Army officer candidate school in Ft Benning, GA. He became a commissioned officer later that fall, and served 7 more years before being medically retired.
Even as a civilian, Joe has continued to play a role in leadership. He has been a part of the logistics leadership sector since he became a civilian in 2015, and works in Hendricks County.
Joe grew up in a close-knit family. He’s married to his high school sweetheart and together they have four children. Joe spends his free time with his children, playing guitar, and going to football games with his teenage son.
His commitment to family is a driving force behind his decision to run for office. He is always trying to do what is best for his family, and the community is a family. His desire is to remind us all of that, to be available with an open mind and listen to the needs of every citizen.
