I agree with many points in the 2019 Thoroughfare Plan. With over 73,000 Residents commuting to work daily and another 42,000 driving into the county for employment, we need to update our plans and prepare for a growing number of drivers on our roads. This plan is missing 2 keys points that could make it better for all Hendricks County Residents
1. “Roughly 30 individuals provided input at the (Hendricks County) fair,” and 396 online surveys were completed to help gather community insight. That is just .6% of the county! Why wasn’t more effort given to reach residents of Hendricks County? Especially since transportation is one of the top concerns in the 2019 Hendricks County Community Needs Assessment.
2. We need more collaborations and community outreach. We could conduct a fact-finding information campaign throughout the county to gather more information from residents and reach out to all the Town Councils to ensure their Thoroughfare Plans are up to date before using them as a reference point. We could hold meetings, at viable times to foster optimal community attendance, and gather more residential input. Doing these things would help ensure the 2019 Hendricks County Thoroughfare Plan is the right plan for all of Hendricks County.
