A healthy community is one of the top needs identified in the 2019 Hendricks County Needs Assessment. This is not simply limited to physical health, but to mental health as well. The Board of Commissioners has authority to appropriate money to construct and operate mental health facilities for the county. While we are finally getting one designated mental health center, there's still a vacuum of services that will be available. The likelihood of one center accepting every type of insurance throughout the county is extremely low. While one center is a tremendous step in the right direction, and a good resource for our community, we need more.
